Czech news portal aktualne.cz got the scoop about academics at Prague’s venerable Charles University on the take from China, and the Financial Times put the sorry saga into the wider context of Sino-Czech affairs.

China is making more transparent inroads with its ‘Belt and Road’ initiative.  This month the first uninterrupted freight train from China to Central Europe rolled through Kazakhstan, Azerbaijan, Georgia, Turkey, Bulgaria, Serbia, Hungary and Slovakia on it’s way to Prague.  The 11,483 km Xi’an-Prague journey is expected to take 18 days, reports the Nikkei Asian Review.  (More China in our March Gazette.)
